Meet the Midwives

Jaymee Boughton

Jaymee has always held a strong belief that pregnancy and birth are normal life events. Working with women and their families from early pregnancy until 6 weeks postpartum has confirmed for her that the childbearing journey is a spiritual, physical and emotional experience. When women feel informed, respected, supported and safe, they are capable of creating for themselves the experiences and outcomes they had only previously hoped for.

Lourdes Resendez

My journey of learning about birth and assisting families in their prenatal, birth, and postpartum periods began in 2006 when I started my DONA doula training.

I have been providing families in the Houston area with professional labor/birth doula services for over a decade.

Sarah Whittaker

Sarah believes that midwives strive to empower and support individual healthcare and lifestyle choices, while also providing clients with continuity of care throughout their pregnancy journey that is safe, professional and designed to suite the individuals’ unique needs, wants and desires. She believes that midwives are the keepers of birth, playing a significant role in protecting the safe arrival of future generations.

Our Galveston Birth Center

Galveston Birth Center was planned with the intention of improving women’s access to alternative maternity care and the choices available to them for their pregnancies and births. In a county where birth options are limited, the existence of a birth center creates diversity in maternity care choices, not only for Galveston Island, but for many neighboring towns.

Welcome earthside Sequoia Lillie!
Sequoia’s mommy wrote her heartfelt birth announcement to share 💜

Our birth was nothing like we had planned for, it was scary and filled with (necessary) intervention. I listened to birthing meditations and Cheyne read me affirmations and helped me breathe through every contraction. We made the best of it and brought our daughter into this world as a team!

Sequoia was born on December 12, 2020 at 3pm. She weighed 6lb 5.6oz and was 20.47 inches long. Her daddy cut her cord 💗
Congratulations Talon & Cheyne! Thank you for trusting us to care for your family!

2020 was unlike anything we could have imagined! Care has looked so different with masks, telehealth visits, and limiting office visitors as we strive to keep everyone healthy. In the midst of all of that, we are choosing to look at the silver lining. As a society, we were all granted much more quality time with our immediate families. We’ve seen so many people grow their talents, pick up new hobbies, explore the outdoors, and much more. Public social distancing and quarantine have led to growing families. As a result, our team has grown as well. We are grateful to all of the families who trusted us to provide care for you during this time and we look forward to what 2021 brings!
