Lourdes Resendez

Doula, Student CPM
My journey of learning about birth and assisting families in their prenatal, birth, and postpartum periods began in 2006 when I started my DONA doula training. I have been providing families in the Houston area with professional labor/birth doula services for over a decade.

In 2008, I began working as a midwifery assistant. It was through my experiences as a doula and midwifery assistant that I was able to connect with families, educate them, and assist them in discovering their desires for birth. In 2014, Jaymee and Melissa encouraged me to take a step that I had long desired to take but was putting off for the right time. I enrolled in the Association of Texas Midwives Midwifery Training Program in early 2015 and began my midwifery apprenticeship with Jaymee in October 2015.

I am blessed to be the mother to 4 wonderful boys. My birth experiences span the spectrum of birth possibilities. I have had 2 planned hospital births, a planned home birth turned emergency cesarean birth (homebirth cesarean) at 31 weeks with a preemie who had a 7-week stay in the NICU, and a home birth after cesarean (HBAC).
